Close First Round Highlights Day 1 of 2026 NWAC Golf Championships

YAKIMA, Wash. - The first day of the 2026 NWAC Golf Championships is in the books as both the men's and women's tournaments feature close team scoring on Sunday at Apple Tree Golf Course.

The women's side is especially close as all five teams are within 10 strokes of each other. The regular season champions Bellevue lead at +40 as a team, but by just three strokes over Spokane. Southwestern Oregon is just behind at +45, followed by Columbia Basin at +47 and Skagit Valley at +50.

Grace Callas of SWOCC leads the individuals with a first-round score of 80, 8-over par. She is one stroke ahead of Spokane's Kiah Holmes-Morrissey, who is two ahead of Skagit Valley's Kiana Schroeder. Baden Golfer of the Year Hadley McDonough of Bellevue sits tied for eighth at +16.

On the men's side, Skagit Valley has jumped out to a six-stroke lead at +9. They are followed by Bellevue (+15), Spokane (+17), Columbia Basin (+22) and South Puget Sound (+27).

The Cardinals are led by the top-two scorers of the first round in Michael Hoagland, who shot 72, even-par, and Broden Toney, who is just one stroke back at +1. Spokane's Curtis Seidel and Tanyon Murray are just behind at +2 each. Men's Golfer of the Year Logan Medcalf is tied for fifth at +3. 

Day two of the tournaments begin with split starts on Monday, beginning at 8 a.m. Golfers will be paired together based on their performances during day one.
