Spokane Edges Lane for 3rd-Straight NWAC Women's Track & Field Championship
GRESHAM, Ore. - The Spokane women's track and field team narrowly took home its third-straight championship and 25th overall on Tuesday at the 2026 NWAC Track and Field Championships at Mt. Hood Community College.
The Sasquatch finished with 179.5 team points and were closely followed by Lane with 165 and Umpqua with 150 in a three-team race for the title. Spokane used big team overall performances in the hammer throw, high jump, 800 meters and discus throw to amass numerous team points.
Daisy Lemley was a key part of the Sasquatch's win as she recorded 21 total points including 20 on Tuesday alone. She won the hammer throw before becoming a back-to-back champion in the discus. Stephanie Chadduck was the team's other individual winner as she took first place in the high jump, with three of her teammates also making the podium and scoring points.
Lane's Jessame Pope was the women's High Point Scorer of the Meet as she put up 36 points. Pope took first place in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles while also placing second in the triple jump and long jump. Her performance earns her the NWAC's Baden Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Umpqua's Amina Mulendela was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Meet as she was second in total points with 34.5 as she finished first in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump, while leading the 4x100 relay to a first place finish and the 4x400 to second place. Mulendela set the meet record in both the 100 and 200 meters having previously broken the all-time NWAC records in the events earlier this season.
Spokane head coach Larry Beatty received Coach of the Year honors for leading the Sasquatch to a third-straight title and 14th overall under his leadership.
After Umpqua, Clark finished fourth with 93 points, followed by Clackamas with 76 and Southwestern Oregon with 40.
The top three finishers in each event are named NWAC All-American. Below is a list of All-Americans for each event of the meet.
